====================================
Dear Riseup Users:
Here in the northern hemisphere the leaves are pretty, the ground is
soggy, and the annual Riseup fundraising drive is afoot! We need you to
pay for our core costs and help keep us going in our fifteenth year of
existence.
https://riseup.net/en/donate
So hello there! We wanted to give a shout out to the huge number of new
Riseup users this year. Thanks for coming to our party. We don't charge
anything to get in, but that doesn't mean what we do is free. We believe
people (and people working on liberatory social change, specifically),
should have access to secure and surveillance-free communication, and if
they can't pay for it, that's cool. However, Riseup relies on its
members who can pay to keep us going. And hello to all our old Riseup
users, too. Raise your hand if you remember Riseup's old slogan.*
So, since we are asking you for money, let's talk about how we used your
money last year. We installed a spiffy new list machine that is hosting
20,000 mailing lists and helping millions of people communicate. We
deployed a new webmail called roundcube, that should be easier and
faster to use. We rolled out our new VPN, which is the first in a long
line of more secure, encrypted, and easier to use services. Along with
all that, we've been battling spam zombie armies and keeping up with a
huge growth in users. The one place where it has been difficult for us
to build capacity is with trouble tickets -- these require vast amounts
of human labor, and don't scale well as we grow. Sorry about that. We
are working on it.
https://riseup.net/en/donate
So that's what we've been up to, but why? Well, we strive to be a small
but important piece of the activist ecosystem that supports and nurtures
all of your work. We know that not everyone needs privacy all the time,
but that when people do need it, they tend to need it pretty
desperately. It's not always easy to predict when that need will arise.
Riseup's strategy has always been to provide good security embedded in
our services all the time, so that when you do need privacy, you don’t
have to change your modes of communication (though you may want to use
other security measures too, like GPG). Fun fact: for many years,
whenever we would talk about Riseup and the growing surveillance
apocalypse, everyone stared at us like we were conspiracy theorists. We
live in a very different world now. (Thanks, Snowden and other leakers!)
So, that's our what and our why, and now, perhaps, give us money? Time
and time again, you all have been amazingly generous in supporting us.
This year we need $60,000 USD to cover our basic operating costs.
So, hello to you, yes you, you beautiful thing with the big heart and
dreams! Any donation is wonderful, but may we suggest a monthly
contribution of $5-50 USD? Recurring donations make us wildly happy, as
we can budget and make plans for the future way more easily. Or maybe
you could donate three hours of your life, whatever you get paid at an
hourly rate, for the year. Anything and everything is huge.
https://riseup.net/en/donate
And if you can't donate, that's okay, too. A huge portion of our users
live in countries plundered by imperialism and neo-liberalism, and for
all of you, we'd rather you donate and support your local
infrastructure. Also, lots of activists everywhere live in poverty. If
that's you, just keep doing your wonderful work. But for everyone else
who can throw a little mutual aid our way? Your money not only supports
our work, but everyone else's, too.
And, last, please know that every dollar goes to collective members and
our operating costs. We have zero bullshit overhead, and we work hard to
stretch every dollar. We'll be bugging you with some more emails over
the next month or so, not because we are greedy rats, but we want to
keep being part of the vital global struggles that you all are part of, too.
Love,
The Riseup Birds
* Get off the Internet! We'll see you in the streets.

https://riseup.net/fr/donate
travaillons là-dessus.
https://riseup.net/fr/donate
plans à long terme plus aisément.
https://riseup.net/fr/donate
part.
Avec amour,
Les oiseaux de Riseup
* Lache l'internet! Retrouvenons-nous dans les rues.

https://riseup.net/it/donate
stesso. Tuttavia, Riseup conta sui suoi membri che possono pagare andare
avanti.
persone a comunicare.
Ci dispiace. Ci stiamo lavorando su.
https://riseup.net/it/donate
bisogno, tendono a farlo in maniera disperata.
(Grazie, Snowden e altri leakers!)
darai soldi?
orario. Qualunque cosa è enorme.
https://riseup.net/it/donate
collettivo e i nostri costi operativi.

https://riseup.net/es/donate

comunicarse.

crecemos. Lo sentimos por eso. Estamos trabajando en ello.
https://riseup.net/es/donate

https://riseup.net/es/donate
colectivo y a nuestros costos operativos. No tenemos ningún gasto

====================================
https://riseup.net/el/donate
https://riseup.net/el/donate

https://riseup.net/pt/donate
dinheiro no ano passado.
Estamos trabalhando nesse ponto.
https://riseup.net/pt/donate
realmente precisam, elas tendem a precisar desesperadamente.
A estratégia
https://riseup.net/pt/donate
so in other words, you changed the robot from position mode to rectangular
mode, and now when you save jobs it saves them in rectangular
coordinates!??! that's awesome!!!
that means we can now use inkscape to make paths and translate them to
robot moves! we can put a sharpie in its hand and make it draw a doge!
all thanks to the secret password, which is 24.#4.#2 !!!!
is anyone good at inkscape? we need to figure out how to scale a path to
the coordinates range we are actually working with. We may be able to get
the robot to do that for us using User Coordinates.
all documentation at:
http://spaz.org/~jake/robot
also, i hear remote mode is unlocked, and we can send the robot commands
over serial and tell it to do whatever we want now?

It's sort of unclear in the proposal, but from what I understand
Backspace is only asking to lock ONE room for dedicated space - the
"eyeball room" upstairs with the large circular window. The "bunker
room" under the staircase would only be locked when in active use, and
the "den" upstairs would always be unlocked and schedulable, with
Backspace getting scheduling priority. Do I understand that right?
Also, people are calling that bunker room "ADA accessible", but sadly
it is not. Yes, there are no extra steps from the wheelchair lift, but
the doors are narrow and there is hardly any turning radius.
Hi!
We’re building a coalition and a community for all folks interested in
internet governance, freedom of speech, privacy, access to information,
peer production, and the interplay of new media with race, gender,
sexuality, class, and other systems of power.
Our first event will be Tuesday, October 21 at Cloyne Co-op (2600 Ridge
Road, Berkeley), one block north of the UC campus.
7pm-8pm: Dinner (suggested donation of $5 for the co-op karma box)
8pm-9:45pm: Screening of The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron
Swartz (movie)
9:45pm-10:30pm: Discussion (with guests from the Electronic Frontier
Foundation)
This event is co-organized by the Open Access Initiative at Berkeley as
part of Open Access Week.

So, this weeks titles were announced over the weekend, and I'm hoping to
see you all there!
This Friday, we'll be showing the titles '*Nothing*' and '*MirrorMask*'.
Two movies about being slung into a wild, alternate world - where things
make little to no sense, but the adventure is grand.
More info on this event can be found here:

For the Film Night of Friday th 24th, we will be screening '*The Internet's
Own Boy*' and '*Hackers*', with a half hour open conversation between
(and/or after).

There is no Film Night planned for Friday the 31st, as it is Halloween.
But! If enough people are interested in having a horrifying, ghoulish,
frightening movie night, I will certainly consider hosting one for All
Hallows Eve!
If you're interested, just reply in line as an RSVP, with a movie
suggestion!

Please find Backspace's space proposal below, and on the Omni riseup pad.
Skip to the section labeled "Space" if you don't want to reacquaint
yourself with our vision and mission. Thank you!
Backspace Wellness Collective
Vision
The Backspace Wellness is a worker-owned wellness network providing an
array of accessible, responsive, safe care, while elevating neighbors,
diverse communities and Oakland activists. Guided by an ethics of
decolonization and of difference, we believe that self-care and community
access to wellness resources is a radical act.
We encourage organizations and individuals committed to making our city a
more just, livable place to care for themselves and go about their work in
a sustainable way. We believe that abundance of resources is often linked
to good health and that abundance is possible through proper relations, and
so are mindful of the nuance of each relationship, gearing our exchanges
towards this mutual benefit and mutual aid of persons, land, community/s.
The Backspace Collective is also committed to facilitating a deepened,
educated community of learners and teachers of the healing arts, and to
explore in conversation what a healthy person, community and bioregion will
look like, and how they are intertwined.
Mission
Backspace Wellness Collective, a collective within the OMNI Commons, is a
worker-owned wellness collective encompassing a broad range of healing
modalities to make opportunities available for healing, wellness, care and
growth in the community.
We offer:
- Wellness center services via private practice(s).
- Regular donation-based clinics that provide wellness services to a
diversity of populations from a range of economic backgrounds.
- Regular events, talks, panels, teach-ins and classes in our space to
engage and empower the community on an educational and participatory level.
- Ongoing contemplative classes and workshops (e.g. meditation, yoga,
martial arts, etc.)
Space
Backspace proposes to move into the ADA accessible Storage Area on the
Shattuck Ave side (former TIL space), the small BDRM upstairs and the
upstair Den (re: the Den - Backspace plans to offer this room part of the
time as a Commons to other Omni collectives). See Appendix A.
Den: Backspace is interested in the Den that overlooks La Commune (next to
TIL’s upstairs office). We will use this room in a multi-purpose way: for
use for yoga, martial arts, open affordable holistic clinic hours,
meditation, wellness special events, etc. We will offer this room as a
common space by reservation during the times when it is not reserved for
Backspace use.
A public calendar that Backspace would be very happy to administrate would
be set up for this room (alternately we can link to an existing calendar
but just need more info on how to do so).
Small BDRM upstairs: We need one small, private room for use as a small
studio space for practitioners, as well as for locked Backspace storage
(which will include herbs and tinctures that must be locked and not
available to the public).
ADA accessible Storage Area We envision this as a private ADA accessible
clinic room for Backspace (for massage appts, etc, where the practitioner
would need to lock the door behind them).
Governance/Structure
Backspace is a worker owned and operated collective. We make decisions via
modified consensus. Membership is obtained through a vote by all the
existing members.
We strive to be engaged with the larger Omni community and have been since
the very first delegates meeting.
We rotate our voting delegates monthly and routinely participate in
working groups, other collectives, or other valuable projects relating to
the Omni.
Financials
We would pay $1000 per month starting in October.
Backspace founder Andrew Lowe put forward $6000 to the Omni for Backspace
in May 2014. This money was paid ahead as a commitment by Backspace to the
Omni and vice versa. We would like to allocate that money in the following
way:
$3000 for July Rent (first month, last month, deposit)
$1000 for Septemer
$1000 for October
$1000 for November
Our income will come from contributions from member practitioners. We plan
to use our profits to help keep our free/donation based clinics sustainable.

I have the account info and login. We already have two paired lines
with two phone #s, so I think all we need to do is wire up the other
one. We could try to change the payment setup, although Sonic gave us
grief for trying that at 2141, which was why we switched to LMI. :/
I just put this month's bill on the wiki:
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Example_Internet_Bill
As you can see, the way they charge us is complicated. It's $140 but
most of that obviously goes to internet, including line items that
non-Sudoers probably don't care about like static IP address. All the
tiny fees for phone service probably add up to ~$10 per line on their
own.
Also, we just got this month's receipt - $137.
