Oakland People's Budget Initiative Community Event @ Omni Commons5/27/22

by Silver Zahn

[image: We're hiring!(1).png] *Below you will find a flyer and eventbrite link for our event, please share it widely with your networks.* https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cda-community-info-shares-tickets-340337307047 I hope this email finds you well. I am a Community Organizer with Community Democracy in Action (CDA). CDA is a sub-committee of the Community Democracy Project <https://communitydemocracyproject.org/>, an all volunteer run organization that wrote the People's Budget Initiative <https://communitydemocracyproject.org/faqs/>. We are reaching out to our like-minded community members to invite you to the *People's Budget Initiative Info Session and Fundraiser *happening on *Friday, May 27th from 4-10pm at Omni Commons* (4799 Shattuck Ave, Oakland). The People's Budget Initiative, *if passed*, will restructure the budget process in the City of Oakland so that all residents will have a direct vote on where their tax dollars go. Year after year, we have seen how our fellow community members fight to get a budget that reflects our needs. Despite our best efforts, the current budgeting process lends too much power to the Mayor and outside lobbies; leaving a mere 6% of the General Funds to go to essential departments like Violence Prevention, Parks, Recreation, and Youth, Economic and Workforce Development, Libraries, Housing and Community Development, Race and Equity, and Public Works. *Please join us on May 27th to learn more about the People's Budget Initiative and how it can create foundational change in our beautiful Oakland. * *Below you will find a flyer and eventbrite link for our event, please share it widely with your networks.* https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cda-community-info-shares-tickets-340337307047 "A budget is more than just a series of numbers on a page; it is an embodiment of our values." - Barack Obama We are at the beginning stages of this campaign and are excited to partner with community members and organizations that share our vision. We want to build a movement that uplifts our communities through mutual sharing and respect. *If you are interested in getting more involved, partnering, or endorsing the People's Budget Initiative, please do not hesitate to email me. * Thank you so much for your time, Silver <3 Community Organizer @Communitydemocracyaction <https://www.instagram.com/communitydemocracyaction/> communitydemocracyproject.org *Community Democracy Project is endorsed by:* Sustainable Economies Law Center, Ministerio Latino, Malcom X Grassroots Movement, Oakland Food Policy Council, Bay Area Transformative Justice Collective, Oakland Climate Action Coalition, Hope Collaborative, Omni Commons, Food Not Bombs, The People's Community Medics, Safer DIY Spaces, Liberated Lens, and more! WNB last night and holiday

by Juliana A

Last night was fun! 4 ppl showed up, including some from this list! I won't be able to make it this coming Monday since I'll be coming back from a trip, if any wnb from this list want to be in charge I'm totally fine! It seems there's always people at Omni C on Monday evenings, so getting in should not be an issue. I created a Slack Workspace for the WNB Coding Night: https://join.slack.com/t/sudoroomwnbco-x885869/shared_invite/zt-19inm31eb-g… Feel free to join if you're a woman/nb! BTW I wasn't able to use my card to get in, it seems there's a new lock with a number combination? Or it was already there and I didn't notice. The card light got green but nothing. Someone indoors opened the door for me. When I first got the card I was able to open the door. -- julianaferreira(a)gmail.com

front door lock issue

Hi Juliana, the box with the number combination on the front door is for when the electronic system doesn't work at all, it contains a physical key. I maintain the electronic system for the front door and you can call me whenever you're at the front door and can't get in, and I can help figure out what is not working and remotely open the door for you. I emailed you my number before. It is (415)555-1212. You can also have root access on the door control system if you want it and can connect over ssh and do everything I can do. according to the logs, the card system was used a lot last night and worked (only one try) for a lot of people. It shows that your card worked twice: May 23 18:47:52 localhost node[661]: #ANNOUNCE"invictus"julianaA<julianaferreira(a)gmail.com>|addedbyjakeTueMay1019:37:09PDT2022 May 23 18:47:52 localhost node[661]: Access granted on Mon May 23 2022 18:47:52 GMT-0700 (PDT) May 23 18:47:58 localhost node[661]: #ANNOUNCE"invictus"julianaA<julianaferreira(a)gmail.com>|addedbyjakeTueMay1019:37:09PDT2022 May 23 18:47:58 localhost node[661]: Access granted on Mon May 23 2022 18:47:58 GMT-0700 (PDT) if the electronic system is not working it's a big deal and I come to the space to fix it. the door latch is getting "sticky" and sometimes you have to pull harder to get it to open. Note that the door handle will not turn with the electronic latch. people forget that the door handle does not turn and think it is not unlocked, but it is unlocked, just pull it open. -jake

Looking for a square, 4-pin JST connector

by Andrew R Gross

I'm looking for a square 4-pin JST connector and I CANNOT find one. I can't find a simple 4-pin connector with 2 rows. I need one to match the receiving connector in these pictures. It appears to be a 2 mm pitch in the PH family or something similar. But like I said, I cannot find ANYWHERE that sells a 4-pin connector in this square arrangement. Nothing would make me happier than for someone to share a link and ask how I didn't find it in a minute. It seems like such a simple part! https://photos.app.goo.gl/yX732MGJEMbTF6c1A Thanks, *Andrew R Gross, (he/him)* 412.657.5332 - shrad.org <http://www.shrad.org>

card writer hardware

by Yardena Cohen

Does anybody have access to a magnetic stripe card WRITER? They are more expensive than the small reader type we have on the front door. If not, they are like $90 online.

Freelance Product Development Engineer Needed, Paid Work

by drew.d.cohen＠gmail.com

Hello! I am looking for a freelance product development engineer who has experience working with IOT, microcontrollers, and custom circuitry. The project is an accessory for a musical instrument that is going to be scaled up and linked together for a large band of 100-200 instruments. There are prototypes that are about ~80% of the way finished, but we need another person with experience to really dial it in now. This is paid work, and we anticipate the project lasting between 1-3 months, but maybe less. The end product is going to be relatively high end for a professional band, so we really are looking for an engineer with experience, not your homie who likes to tinker with things. Let me know if you are interested, or if you know someone who may fit the bill, thanks! Regards, Andrew 415-297-2535 (text is fine) P.S. This is my first time posting here, so let me know if there's a better list for this kind of thing, thanks!

[omni-consensus] Proposal for warning letter to Mike Tenuto about skylights refund

by Jake

Sudoroom members if you have any objections to this proposal please speak up otherwise I will assume Sudoroom is in favor -jake (delegate of sudoroom to omni commons) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Wed, 18 May 2022 19:00:25 -0700 From: Patrik D'haeseleer <patrikd(a)gmail.com> To: consensus <consensus(a)lists.omnicommons.org> Subject: [omni-consensus] Proposal for warning letter to Mike Tenuto about skylights refund This is something we've discussed during the last two delegates meetings. Hope we can take a vote on this tomorrow: - Propose to ask our Lawyer Jesse to send a letter to Mike requiring hime to refund Omni the money we prepaid for the skylights ($9800) by the next delegates meeting June 2nd. If funds have not been received by then, Omni will file a bond claim against Mike's contractor surety bond to recuperate our money that way. Mike is also invited to arrange a time with Omni to come reclaim the windows he brought in which are currently lying loose on the roof. Patrik
