[OT] Sublet LocalWiki office in the Mission for Feb. ($600)

by Marina Kukso

hi all, please forgive me this one-time abuse of the sudo list for discussing non-sudo issues, but i thought that this might be relevant to you or someone you know. i work at the nonprofit localwiki <http://localwiki.org> and due to travel plans that will mean that we won't need to use our office in february, we're looking for a subletter for the month. the office fits 3 people, is furnished, has fast wifi, and is about a 10 min walk from 16th st. mission bart. it's $600/month. if you or someone you know is interested, get in touch. thanks, marina

FPGA dev boards found on sudoroom shelves - WIP?

by Jake

I found a cardboard box, open, shipping label says recipient was ZAFER YASA of FEMTOCHROME RESEARCH in berkeley (shipped in april 2013) it contains seven FPGA development boards in various states of construction and hacking, wires hanging off etc. including a bunch of open-hardware boards like the LX9 v1.0 there is a paper note that says W.I.P. SEPTEMBER 21 which stands for Work In Progress probably. Well it has been almost four months, when do we get to start hacking on this stuff? There is no other information that I can find. Does anyone know anything about this stuff? -jake

How to Donate

by Yardena Cohen

Here's a step-by-step guide to donating with Gittip: https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Gittip We're up to $200/week! Can we make $250 today? Have any of you been meaning to sign up but not done it yet? It looks like we're ramping up to move to a bigger space sometime soon. Are you more likely to give money if we have a bigger space with more room for projects, industrial equipment, classes, meetings, etc? Would you be more likely to use the space? If so, would you consider starting to give now? It will help us plan for the future to know how much people are willing to give! Thanks so much!

Home security systems -- experience?

by Andreas

Hey-oo! Does anybody have significant experience with (building or otherwise) hown-grown home security systems? It seems that motion detectors with an alert connection to a security firm (or at least to your cell phone) might be one way I heard of. Anybody care to share their knowledge, either via the list or in-person? - Andreas
