Hey sudo ers Imagine a sudo room where you'd want to sit and hack for hours. A sudo were you'd want to have enlightening conversations for hours. Read, Build, Saw, Hang out. All this can become a reality... if we change the damn lighting! Is anyone interested in doing something about the slightly depressing lighting in sudo? I am. I think that if we change the lighting, it will be a small revolution. It would be cool to be a group of fabulous people working on it! I imagine that LED lights instead of the current ones would be great. We could also scatter some smaller & cute directional lights here and there. Let's start a light revolution thread! <3 Noémie -- Noémie Serfaty 108 rue du Faubourg du Temple 75011 Paris Tel: 06 27 76 88 84 Tel: 01 71 50 51 82 noemieserfaty(a)gmail.com

SudoKit - Sudo Room

by Romy＠snowyla

https://sudoroom.org/wiki/SudoKit I'm working on an open sourced learning kit that's more physical than strictly digital It will help people learn how to use the Sudoroom creatively . I'll be asking people for tips and contributions because I don't know anything ! That's sort of good because having the eyes of s beginner is good for teaching but it means asking a lot of questions Sent from my iPhone

Re: [sudo-discuss] Sewing machines

by Jake

Hi Helen, the truth is that there is no one in charge of the sewing machines, and if you feel qualified to work on them and improve them, you should go ahead and do that. If you can document what you're doing, it will help if you can either do that on paper by the machines, or preferably by editing the sudoroom wiki. If you are not familiar with Wiki editing, there are people who can help you get started with that. I brought in the Embroidery machine, and I know a little about how it works, but i'm no expert. We appreciate anything you can do to help get all the machines working just right. Note; one of them is a button sewing machine. I think it was mistaken for a serger (which we do not have, but we want) so I am hoping it can be returned and we can get a serger instead. Also we have a very nice "juki" sewing machine that is apparently missing its oil pan. I think oil pans can be made out of sheetmetal, or bought on ebay, but anyway that machine would be a good replcaement for the older machine on the wooden table, if we can get it to work better than that one. thanks you for your help! -jake On Fri Nov 28 Helen wrote: Hello, I recently was invited to sudoroom to check out the sewing machines and have tinkered with them a little bit. Re: [sudo-discuss] [Shelter] Tiny houses made for homeless in West Oak

by Autonomous

Here's a link to a few images of a low cost "Tiny Home" concept based on truck camper RV's which are available for free or very cheap: https://plus.google.com/u/1/photos/106839673035751587991/albums/60779607855… The catch is that the jacks used to raise and lower these campers are no longer functional due to structural issues with the wood frame. So I devised a way in which the camper can be rolled onto the back of a car trailer and then rolled off onto a wood platform foundation. You can see this in some of the attached images. One advantage of the truck camper is that it is not technically a "RV" since it has no wheels plus it is less than 120 square ft. So if you have a property to put one of these on then no permit is required. However, people absolutely hate these things so I modify it to make it look like a small shed. I have two of these tiny homes setup now, one in Marin near China Camp and another in the NE corner of California on a 10 acre farm. There's also an image included of a tent cabin which is technically a "fabric covered agricultural processing structure" in the eyes of the law. The land use is described as a "Tree Sanctuary" where we rescue small endangered trees and reintroduce them into the wild, hence the justification for occupying the property which we own freely with no mortgage or other banking encumbrances. Sewing machines

Hello, I recently was invited to sudoroom to check out the sewing machines and have tinkered with them a little bit. I've identified some problems, missing pieces, etc. and want to keep working on/with them, but I'd like to talk to anyone else who has used them or whoever brought them there. Re: [sudo-discuss] [omni-discuss] Omni Orphan Thanksgiving

STATUS UPDATE: I have just arrived with a number of pies that were donated by Kevin. (That number of pies is four.) To accompany the pies, Kevin also donated five bottles of wine. I have donated three bottles of Champagne. SO we have desert and some beverages but nothing on the food front except (nourishing) green beans. There are 3 “orphans" currently. Join us, bring your food. Also an assortment of small screws for my robot claw. > On Nov 26, 2014, at 11:12 PM, Cere Misc <cere.misc(a)gmail.com> wrote: > > It's not a formal event, but one way or another there's sort of going to be one tomorrow for those of us that want to be there. > > > So: > > I'm bringing some yummy Bluelake Beans to cook. > > If someone could bring something to drink, that would be rad. here's what Stan has to say about him ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 28 Nov 2014 09:31:16 -0600 From: Stan Osborne <stan(a)ana.com> To: Jake <jake(a)spaz.org> Subject: Re: Shawn Jake, Thanks for helping SuDo learn more about Shawn. For awhile he was a regular at Spazport. When he is at OMNI I attempt conversation. He now speaks in a manner that is understandable. I recall a few years ago when I could not understand one word of what he was trying to say. His desire to be a part of a community has not changed. Since I have known him more than a decade his eccentricities do not bother me. At h3ll he would tell me he was not involved with playing chess any more. In recent months I've seen him playing chess with others at OMNI. He has made suggestions on improving OMNI, and uses SuDo room coputers for email, etc. These are all things he has not done in some time. regarding https://lists.sudoroom.org/pipermail/sudo-discuss/2014-November/008376.html [sudo-discuss] [omni-discuss] Strange man sleeping in eyeball room this is an email from my friend John who tries to take care of Shawn, the guy who has been coming to the omni and sometimes making trouble, to the point where people need to ask him to leave. I understand why people ask him to leave when they do, I just figured i would pass this along for context, both for him specifically, and for the kinds of situations people wind up in. -jake ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Wed, 26 Nov 2014 09:47:47 -0800 From: John Benson <followthatparade(a)gmail.com> To: Jake <jake(a)spaz.org> Subject: Re: shawn squatting the omni Hi Jake, wish we were more regularly in touch... alas. on the Shawn front: over the last couple of years five of us. little by little were able to get Shawn a successful SSI claim which produced its first benefit check of 768$ we have a budget and a couple of folks helping out.... 200 of it is going to pay for the storage container at my shop where he sleeps and fills with garbage until i clean it all out. (which I have been paying for about two years now) In other news he has had his dad, Russel, his aunt Connie, Alrita, and a cousin, Darrel, each separately continue to threaten and harrass him these last couple of years. they have done various things such as call the city on the warehouse for code violations and sit infront of my house for hours and call me and shawn repeatedly and tell us that we are sinners going to hell and that they have lawers, ... etc. I don't know what their motivation is really could be the money, could be the christian thing to do , but the all seem to hate each other i am the one who found them in the ssi process and reached out to them. none have seen Shawn in the last 15 years but two had been payee's until 2004. so I suspect money.... this last year Shawn has been in three different Psychiatric facilities after being hospitalized by the police and i have three separate abuse claims with Berkeley police review/oversight committee with the emergency room reports (these actually helped in evaluation process of the ssi claim) he also has a ticket for not having a light on his bike which he refuses to give me any info on other than a photo of a crumbled up ticket which he sends in a text message some times. over the last six months and talks about aids, Chinese and ebola some how being related to this ticket. there is also a long string of cafe's he is no longer allowed into who at first, allowed me to run a tab for him. the YMCA revoked his membership after two appeals i requested and the purple house wont let him inside this is the recent stuff in a nutshell.
