algorithm cartooning session

by Romy Ilano

Hi, A lot of us at SudoRoom are programmers. We encounter algorithms only during coding interviews or during high level talks about impossibly cool and complex stuff. I learned how to code in a non traditional way, but I'm finding algorithms more and more fun outside of the context of a coding interview! I want to live with algorithms no matter what. They are actually really cool, but they just don't seem to be that much fun and are presented as objects of terror in everyday life. As part of the regular Thursday and Tuesday cartoonist conspiracy session I am going to add: *Algorithm Romance Novel Cartoon night.* We will hack and code hot algorithms and maybe even date them! ============================= Romy Ilano romy(a)snowyla.com

borrow an amp for MakerFaire

by Cere Mona Davis

Hey sudoers and noisebridgers, Wondering if anyone has 2 channel AMP I can borrow for MakerFaire these weekend? I don't need the speakers, so not a guitar amp, but just the amplifier itself. Alternately, if there is no just-an-amplifier available, a guitar amp would do in a pinch. If anyone has one available they would be willing to lend me, pls email me privately. Thanks, Cere -- Best Regards, Cere Davis ceremona(a)gmail.com ------------------- GPG Key: http://taffy.findpage.com/~cere/pubkey.asc GPG fingerprint (ID# 73FCA9E6) : F5C7 627B ECBE C735 117B 2278 9A95 4C88 73FC A9E6

Fwd: [omni-discuss] Announcement: Re-Keying is Coming!

by Matthew Senate

re-keying for physical (cylinder) keys is immanent. no change to existing access control system, see for updates on that at a later time/date. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: niki <niki.shelley(a)gmail.com> Date: Mon, May 11, 2015 at 11:22 AM Subject: [omni-discuss] Announcement: Re-Keying is Coming! To: "discuss(a)lists.omnicommons.org" <discuss(a)lists.omnicommons.org> At our last delegates meeting we agreed that, after almost a year, it's time to re-key the locks and re-communicate our community agreements around access to and use of the space. (Obviously, a larger access system will eventually be implemented down the road.) If you are a member of a member collective you should discuss how to go about receiving a new key with your collective. If you are not a member of a member collective, there will be a now be a process for requesting a key. We will be sure to communicate that process prior to changing the locks. Re-Keying will happen no sooner than (and more likely, sometime after) our next delegate's meeting in two weeks. If you have any thoughts regarding information you think should be included in the communications we're developing around space use and access, please feel free to contact me! Please distribute this message to your respective collectives! <3 Niki _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss(a)lists.omnicommons.org https://omnicommons.org/lists/listinfo/discuss

Free trip to Shenzhen China?

by Mitch Altman

For people with cool projects they'd like to show off at the Cre8 Summit in Shenzhen China, there is a possibility for a free, all-expenses paid trip. Check out the info, below, and if you are interested, please contact me off-list, and I'll connect you to the organizer of Cre8 Summit. Best, Mitch. The event will have ~25 makers and hackers from China, Japan, and US presenting their projects in a publicexpo, which is expected to have ~15,000 attendees. The first day willbe keynote speeches followed by a public display of all the projectsthe attending teams are working on. These will be things involvingdrones, VR, EEG systems, etc. The second day has talks focused oneducation, creativity, and the role China will play in the future ofinnovation, followed by a networking event for attending teams, manufacturers, and whoever else wants to participate (this part won'tbe open to general public). The last two days feature tours ofShenzhen companies for the visiting teams. Our informational website is here, which has our list of speakers: http://www.cre8summit.io/ We have a strong set of teams based around virtual reality, EEG systems and artistry/making. We currently have a small contingent for robotics and internet of things, and we're looking to fill a couple last spots there. We're able to provide full accommodations and plane tickets for teams with very cool (accessible + interesting) demos in these areas, and we're open to having a team from another area not mentioned above.

DO NOT SCHEDULE EVENTS IN THE BALLROOM FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS!

by niki

:D We have a ton of construction projects planned over the next two weeks and have requested a moratorium on scheduling events in the ballroom during that time. Today's work day has been cancelled due to an event that was scheduled. Please check in w/the Commons Working Group if you have questions! <3 N
