Omni work party 1/26

Omni Building Working Group is hosting a work and cleaning party on January 26, from 10am until about 5pm. Meet in the Entrance Hall. Come through any time and bring your friends. We will have a list of maintenance and cleaning tasks, and people available to guide you, if you need assistance. Tasks will probably include painting, installing occupancy sensors, small repairs, decluttering, and ballroom and disco room floor repair and cleaning. If you have a suggestion for a job, let the WG (building(a)lists.omnicommons.org) know and we may add it to the list. There will be snacks and drinks. In the past, work days have been fun and and productive. Lets start the year with a cleaner, more organized, better functioning building! Love, BWG

laser cutter intro

Hi Sudoers, first of all, happy holidays!! I've been at the space two or three times but I'm still pretty new here... I was wondering, what's the state of the big red laser cutter? I'm working on a project for which I need to cut 5 mm plywood sheets with some rather intricate patterns. I've used a rather similar laser at the UC Berkeley before. Anything I should know before using it? If it's operational, is there anyone around who could give me a quick walk-through at some point? If it's not operational, I'd be happy to help to get it up and running ... Cheers, Michael

Pizza? Music? Sudo-Room Cleaning Party?

Anybody down to have a cleaning party sometime in Mid-January, on a Saturday evening. It would be great cool to clean and party together. We could accomplish such things collaborating, continue getting rid of unused stuff and material, mount the nessasary tools to the benches, organize benches, finish building furniture, etc.

After saying no at least three times, I fell asleep, then woke up from REM sleep because I could not breathe, and discovered that I could not breathe because Psi had their hands wrapped around my neck. For a while, they claimed not to remember, then I got an apology. Very recently, however (winter 2019) they claimed to remember me being awake during the incident. They claimed not to remember me saying "no," or "I am falling asleep now," but they do have some recollection of thinking that choking me "might turn [me] on again." Calling them in by myself has not been working (they get angry, gaslight, and act insulted), and at this point it causes me a considerable amount of anxiety. They claim I am the only person this has happened with, but I am not sure at this point that I believe that, for reasons beyond just this one conversation. At least for a little while, I would prefer not to see them at the omni, and am also calling on other community members who know and care about Psi to maybe put in some (hopefully) more effective emotional labor if they feel so inclined.
