Hi, I'm a hacker and computer science student from Switzerland. I'm also a member of Fixme, a hackerspace in Lausanne. I'm planning to come to San Fransisco from August 6 to August 9 with two friends. They are also CS students. We're looking to a place to lodge and everything is crazily expensive, especially for some students. Do you have any ideas, any contacts or any spare couches to help us? Happy Hacking, Sacha Bron – Binary Brain PS: I just saw you need money to survive. I gave you $20, hope it will help!

Do you like drilling big holes? Volunteer opportunity

by yar

We need 44 of them. Come help please. It's holes through 2-inch joists in the ballroom mezzanine floor, for routing romex. Took me 5 minutes of hard muscle work just to do one. Involves power tools, sawdust, noise, awkward standing positions, and fabulous fun.

by danarauz＠gmail.com

Hello Sudoers and Noisebridgers, There are about six Cisco switches that I have been asked if we are interested on getting as donation. The model I can read off the attached photo is: 4- Cisco Catalyst 3750 24 Ports - 2x1G SFP (transceivers not included) http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750/hardware/qui… The others 2 that I think may be: 1- Cisco Catalyst 3550 24 Ports - 2x1G SFP (fiber transceivers not included) 1- Cisco Catalyst 2850 24 Ports - 2x1G (fiber transceivers not included) If interested please let me know ASAP, since I have to reply to the person offering this items. He has been waiting for three weeks or so; for us to answer. He emailed me today again. Person with electric repair knowledge needed

by danarauz＠gmail.com

Location: Second floor computer area. Issue: HP Switch at the second floor turns off, often. Temporary Correction: Push the extension cable connector into the outlet (under the table) and it will turn back on. Situation: This regular issue can be annoying to the end user, due that computers will loose internet connection. Marc J. mentioned that perhaps power for the switch should come from the light fixture nearby, and remove the extension cord that is currently feeding the switch. Matt S. also had similar experience, he mentioned to me last week. Call: Can someone with electricity knowledge go there and check/fix the situation? Additional Note: I have not swap switches to make sure that is not the switch. I suggest that if the main switch in the server area is Cisco, so then to have same maker at the second floor. Just to have same routing protocols between the two. Also, I recall that several months ago I cleaned up the configuration of a couple of Cisco switches and they are stored in the two post switch rack in the server area. Feel free to take one of them, if needed. Many thanks in advance, and please reply to this list if you will/worked on this ticket. :) Daniel -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Help open a people-powered common space in Oakland, California! https://omnicommons.org/donate - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

by Jenny Ryan

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: transcultural cinema <transculturalcinema(a)gmail.com> Date: Sun, Jul 26, 2015 at 2:05 PM Subject: [omni-discuss] Becoming Omni Commons - All Hands On Deck! Aug 9th @ 2pm-6pm Calling all Organizers, Facilitators, Helpers, and Omni Lovers! To: becoming(a)lists.omnicommons.org Hello! *We invite you to join us on Sunday, August 9th at the Omni Commons.* We are assembling a *Volunteer Design & Facilitation Team* that will plan and steward a collective visioning and planning process with all of Omni Commons. This future process, which we are calling *BECOMING OMNI COMMONS*, will seek to: * expand and transform our collective sense of possibility * clarify our shared values * examine our cultures, narratives and processes * create priorities to move towards more sustainable and supportive ways of being together and being in the world * design an action-calendar for our visioning and planning process A plan for BECOMING OMNI COMMONS will be presented to the Omni Commons delegates council (our governance body ;) and actualized as soon as possible. *The details:* *Who: *You! Anyone interested in joining our *Volunteer Design & Facilitation Team* (described above) *What: *A fun four-hour facilitated, preparatory meeting, followed by DINNER! *Where:* Omni Commons, 4799 Shattuck Ave, Oakland, CA 94609 (and possibly on-line if you cannot be physically present) *When:* *Sunday Aug 9th 2pm-6pm *(you must arrive on-time and stay for the entire session) *Why:* *Given our present circumstances:* * We are in a serious financial pickle right now. * We have an opportunity to potentially buy the building very soon. * We are struggling with interpersonal conflict, overwork, and burnout. * We have never had the opportunity to engage in a visioning process since moving into 4799 Shattuck a year ago. *We need to:* * Reform our processes to be inclusive of as many perspectives as possible. * Align our work and our organizing with our ideals and our politics. * Provide a safe platform for constructive criticism and reflection. * Invest openness, patience and respect for the diversity of perspectives and experiences of all of those who have been involved or impacted by Omni Commons in some way or another. *How:* If you'd like to join the team and can attend the meeting, RSVP to becoming(a)lists.omnicommons.org and share any important requests or dietary needs. *Sunday, August 9th @ 2pm-6pm at 4799 Shattuck, Oakland. RSVP to becoming(a)lists.omnicommons.org <becoming(a)lists.omnicommons.org>*If you cannot make it and would like to participate, please fill out this survey by August 2nd: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BXGHX2N Love and solidarity, Laura Turiano, Yar Cohen, Sarah Pritchard, Julio Rios, Dusty Mabry, Matt Senate, Joe Liesner, Libbie Cohn p.s.
