[sudo-info] Screening at Gray Area (SF), June 15th, 7-9 pm; in person/virtually (fwd)

by Jake

---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 29 May 2025 20:44:56 +0000 From: "Chernysheva, Anastasia" To: "info(a)sudoroom.org" Subject: [sudo-info] Screening at Gray Area (SF), June 15th, 7-9 pm; in person/virtually To whom it may concern, my name is Anastasia, I'm an art historian and a curator. Reaching out, I would like to share information about the forthcoming screening focused on early telepresence and invite you to join in person or virtually. We are also open to collaboration of any kind: adding the event to your newsletter, listings, etc. Please let me know if it resonates and what the next steps might be. Hope to (e-)see you soon! "Electronic Cafe International (1989-2000): Virtual Collaboration and Telepresence Before the Web" at Gray Area on June 15th, virtually and in person. About: Artists Kit Galloway and Sherrie Rabinowitz once envisioned telecommunication networks and information commons – what we now call videoconferencing and the World Wide Web – as a liberating force for communities, fostering creativity and open dialogue beyond the constraints of time and space. In a conversation inspired by the legacy of Electronic Cafe International, we will explore the evolution of telepresence (from the 1970s onwards) in connection to contemporary socio-political challenges, reflecting on the role of artivism in today’s world. Time: June 15th, 7-9 pm PDT Location: * in person at 2665 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA * virtually: Zoom link w/ticket RSVP. Planning ahead for manga themes around comics in art tech and learning this fall

by Romy Ilano

Hey folks, I’m thinking of plenty ahead in conjunction with the big de young show on Minga starting the September. I feel like weekend do a lot of collaboration around this museum show making comments around how to use a laser printer how technology works. It’s gonna be fun. OCLP

by Patrick Clawson

This message is for Peter Mui, apologies for spamming the group with a message for a specific person, but I don't have their contact details yet. Hi Peter, This is Patrick Clawson, we met at last week's Tuesday night meeting and you gave me the minimac to get up and running with OCLP. I was reading up on it and one of the draw backs to OCLP is that future upgrades might break the install, requiring another run at it with the OCLP installer. I was reading that non-MacOS installs such as linux are also possible and might not require as many interventions to keep running. I was wondering if you had a specific use in mind for that mac that having macOS running on it is desired, or if the idea is to just get it up and running, OS agnostic? again, apologies for messaging the group as a whole if that goes against the general mailing list etiquette, and I'm happy to take this conversation to a separate email thread if you'd like to send me an email address to use. -- Patrick Clawson zombiebot(a)gmail.com pbclawson(a)gmail.com 510-290-6540
