the other night someone introduced by Joule (sudoroom member) offered to give Sudoroom $2000 per month if we provide space for their vacuum chamber and related equipment. We gave them our bank routing/account numbers and if the money appears, we should make the space near the robot control cabinet available so it can be set up. We will be able to use the equipment ourselves when they're not using it. This is a great opportunity to access money that would otherwise go to waste, and we can increase our monthy contribution to Omni while this is happening, which will help us keep the building. -jake

TAZ 4 3d printer

by Jake

Hi Glen, the 3D printer i pointed out to you is a TAZ 4 which was donated last year. As I think i mentioned in the following wiki, it just needs the currents calibrated for the stepper motor control on the extruder, which i think is basically a software process on this machine. https://sudoroom.org/wiki/TAZ_4 -jake

Hardware and softWEAR* Hacking Tuesday is tonight

by Jake

Hi everyone, You're getting this email either because 1) you're on the sudoroom discuss email list, or 2) because I BCC'd you directly. Tonight I'll be hosting Sudoroom for those who want to come hack on whatever, in person, or through telepresence (see the last link in this email) ALSO NOW FEATURING: SoftWEAR hacking too: most Tuesday evenings the sewing area at Omni Commons (in the basement) is also active so bring your fabric and textile projects and technical repairs; we've got heavy duty and serger sewing machines available. You're also welcome to bring your own machine to have it checked out and tuned up for tip-top operation or to just sew alongside others. Remember that Omni Commons and Sudoroom policy is presently still that EVERYONE SHOULD WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES INSIDE THE BUILDING (if you want to eat something you should go outside) in the past few weeks, we've had about 5-15 people over the course of the evening, not including remote participants who logged in through telepresence Jenny put it on the Omni calendar: https://omnicommons.org/blog/events/hardware-hack-night-3-2022-03-01/ Here it is on the sudoroom page: https://sudoroom.org/events/hardware-hack-night-2022-02-15/ that says 7PM but I try to be there earlier. if you get to the door (at the corner of 48th and shattuck) and you can't get in, call me or someone else who's there to let you in! Email me if you don't have my phone number. Actually a great way to get our attention is to join the video chat link at the end of this email! We don't always hear the doorbell and I don't answer it anyway! You should get on this sudoroom discuss mailinglist! click here: https://sudoroom.org/lists/postorius/lists/sudo-discuss.sudoroom.org/ and you should donate monthly to sudoroom, monthly, by signing up here: https://sudoroom.org/humans and if you want to make a one-time donation, you can go here: https://sudoroom.org/donate if you can't make it in person: join the jitsi videochat with the room, and chat with each other as well as a giant TV screen/speakerphone on the wall: https://meet.waag.org/turtlesturtlesturtles (don't worry if you're the only one in the "room", others will join eventually, and if the camera is pointed at the floor, just yell until someone comes and talks to you and then ask them to aim it back up into the room) see you soon! -jake

[omni-consensus] Cleanliness Accountability Committee proposal (fwd)

by Jake

Hi Sudoroom, THIS IS IMPORTANT! The following proposal was brought to the delegate's meeting a couple of weeks ago, and tonight in the meeting it was discussed. Since I had not been attending delegates meetings for some time, I failed to forward this proposal to this list so that sudoroom could discuss our position on it. Since I am a Sudoroom member, I voiced my position through our delegate (which is me) that I am against giving a committee the power to levy fines against omni collectives/tenants/people, especially since we have not tried a process of simple communication between a cleaning collective and representatives of collectives. Ultimately the other Omni delegates felt strongly about passing the proposal, but they were willing to remove the provision giving the new Committee the ability to "impose a monetary penalty" on groups or individuals they determined were guilty of being messy. The proposal was partially passed as seen here: https://omnicommons.org/wiki/Event:2022/09/15_Delegates#cleanliness yar: if we approve the proposal but delay the fine enforcement until after our october 6 meeting, and require another affirmative consensus decision on october 6 to give them that fine enforcement power? jake: is ok with that CONSENSUS: YES (CCL/Patrik ANV/Silver SUDOROOM/Jake FNB/Helen CLP/Billy MOP/Jacqi) ABSTAIN: (SUDOMESH/Camber) BLOCK: (none), PASSES! I personally think it's unreasonable to trust a newly formed Committee with the power to, for example, determine that Sudoroom is too messy and issue "fines" of $50 per day until they feel that we have satisfied their standard, and I'm glad that the other delegates were willing to remove this provision even though they were technically capable of overriding sudoroom's objections. This provision is set to be reintroduced at the Delegate's meeting on OCTOBER 6TH and Sudoroom needs to discuss our position, in order for our delegate to represent us at that meeting. Please see the link below for the proposed text of the new Committee (same link is in the meeting notes above) and discuss the provision that's slated for October 6th Delegate's meeting. -jake ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 02 Sep 2022 06:08:55 +0000 From: deskhandle <deskhandle(a)protonmail.com> To: consensus <consensus(a)lists.omnicommons.org> Subject: [omni-consensus] Cleanliness Accountability Committee proposal https://cryptpad.fr/pad/#/2/pad/edit/GcTDiTZqA3ao5+6hbaAuobdc/ At the delegate's meeting tonight, we discussed a proposal formulated by the Events team which is linked above. This is a draft proposal and instructions for how to suggest edits are on top of the doc. Please do not edit the content directly. In short, it exists to create a new committee which will oversee the cleanliness of the space, design and implement new systems to do so, including a monetary penalty for any space left out of order for both shared spaces and tenant spaces. If you're able to be an active and dedicated participant in that committee, please join us on Slack. This committee would also be able to spend some amount of Omni funds to clean the space regularly and keep it at a level of cleanliness that must be maintained for Omni to exist. Please check this out and get back with any thoughts, concerns, suggestions before it's voted on at the next delegate's meeting. Billy Community Liberation Programs

Does anyone have an OBD reader? Or an airbrush gun?

by Andrew R Gross

These two projects aren’t related. But I want to check a check engine light and paint a figurine. Does Sudo room have a compressor? I thought about getting an airbrush. They’re not expensive. But I don’t want to deal with getting a compressor for my house when I won’t use it that much. -- *Andrew R Gross, (he/him)* 412.657.5332 - shrad.org <http://www.shrad.org>

I have an OBD reader in my car. If you¹re there on Tues nights, we can check the codes. Or as Jake said, you can also pick one up pretty cheap. What type of paint will you want to spray through an airbrush? I¹ve used a compressed cylinder of CO2 as it¹s quiet and provides a dry gas source for an airbrush. -Kent ----- Kent Leech Illustration http://www.kentleech.com kent(a)kentleech.com +1 (510) 504-0634 --
