Up on the CCL/Sudo roof?

by Patrik D'haeseleer

Anyone know how easy it is to get up on the roof of the Bocce Ball court? There's some folks who would like to shoot some interviews in CCL next Wednesday morning, but they would like to be able to block out some of the light through the skylights. Thanks! Patrik

This Saturday, 10/29, is Laserbridge - Halloween Party, Fundraiser, and Celebration!

by James Sundquist

OFFICIAL Event Page - noisebridge.net/laserbridge Facebook Event Page - https://www.facebook.com/events/1239206286139296 Donate Page - https://donate.noisebridge.net/projects/laserbridge Are we missing some social media? Twitter? Myspace? Friendster? Please share the event anywhere you see fit. PARTY? DETAILS! (be sure to check the event links above). Gently suggested donation of $10 – 20, and NO ONE WILL BE TURNED AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS! Help setup at 4pm and enjoy yourself! We have to assign a "start time" so we're saying 6pm... you can be there earlier or later. :) In the later evening we'll clean up + the next morning. Noisebridge is having a super awesome laser-themed Halloween exhibition-fundraiser PARTY. We’re going to have live local musicians, a bar, performers, and amazing shiny, blinky, glowy, future-y costumes. We’ll also have exhibitions and demonstrations by talented local artists, coders, gamers, and YOU! Feel free to add your project to our official event page & bring it to the party! Everyone is invited: geeks, dorks, nerds, hipsters, hippies, punks, weirdos, gentrifiers, friends new and old. Donations graciously accepted at the door or online at any time -- Click the "Facebook Tickets" link to donate online. As well as being the most kick-ass Halloween party in SF, this party will benefit a GREAT cause. You can help Noisebridge fund our new kick-ass laser cutter (click here for specs on the cutter). As you probably know, Noisebridge is a 501(c)(3) organization that has helped countless numbers of people over the past eight years. We’ve benefited so many members of the public, especially those working on technical and creative projects, and hope to continue to do so long into the future. This party is to encourage community and help us raise the remaining $3,746 to pay for our awesome new laser cutter! Please encourage people to attend! Or, Get Involved as a Volunteer! Noisebridge loves you!

Affordable housing near Sudo Room or Noisebridge?

by Steve Phillips

Hi all, I'm Steve Phillips, co-founder of Santa Barbara Hackerspace <http://sbhackerspace.com/> and Python/Go/JavaScript developer. I gave a talk at DEF CON last year and in a week I'm moving from Santa Barbara to the Bay to be closer to DEF CON/cypherpunk-type people. I checked out Sudo Room a couple days ago, and got to meet Jake/jerkey and a couple other people. Anyone know of any places for <= $1200/month that's close to either Noisebridge or Sudo Room? I've found Hack'n'Sleep and other "hacker houses"/hostels like that, but something less cramped or close to fellow cypherpunks would be better. Any tips you have would be appreciated. Thanks, and I'll see you all soon! --Steve P.S. sudo finance update - check that you're paying your dues!

by Jenny Ryan

Greets all, *Please login to your account at sudoroom.org/humans <http://sudoroom.org/humans> and check that you're paying your dues.* - All recurring stripe plans total $1105/month, with 28 members paying through sudo-humans - We receive approx. $17/wk from Gratipay, or $68/month - We receive approx. $215/month via PayPal, with 4 members paying this way - Assorted cash donations average $50/month, with 2 members paying this way. Total recurring monthly income is *$1528/month *with *34 members *paying. According to sudo-humans, there are 146 'comrades' and 32 'members' - the real number of actual members is somewhere closer to 100. We need to increase our monthly income by *$930* to remain fiscally solvent. For the past couple of months, we have been able to pay our recurring monthly expenses ($2446 for rent/utils and $12 for our Digital Ocean server) thanks to the generosity of a single dedicated members (thank you!!) Folks able and willing to work on other fundraising schemes - grant applications, year-end fundraising letter, selling stuff, fundraising events etc welcome and appreciated. We could also very much benefit from more folks contributing to sudo-humans.
