Door and Keypad Update and Need Help (Electronics Knowledge)

by Max Klein

Only last night I got the keypad running again, and was trying to insultate the wires to improve its uptime. So I coated two connections between the rasberry pi and the relay which is attached to the door. After coating, it seemed like I somehow failed these connections, because the software exited normally (opendoor.py was still being called and sent success messages), but the door was not opening. I tried to unglue them, but when i was taking off the glue, I disconnected one of the wires that was at this 3-way junction. Then I resoldered the wires but to no avail. So everything is totally broken now. Can you help with a multimeter and a solder gun Monday to hunt this down? I don't know how to test if there is current at point, nor why the two wires would split coming of the rpi, and then both go to same relay. BTW what's a relay (i've only heard the term)? Please tutor me in the ways of righteousness, notconfusing 7074787023

Need a bike trailer/ride STAT

by Chris Bee

My friend is giving away a pair of vintage speakers, Wharfedale W60Ds.to be precise...thing is, they weigh 47 lb each which would make carrying them on my handlebars slightly hairy. Does anyone have a bike trailer I can use for a hour or so? Or, can someone drive over with me to pick them up (they're at 28th and Adeline). IMO sudo needs these speakers...as Walter Sobchek would say, they would really tie the room together. -chrisbee

Sat. 6pm meeting to organize against Oakland's DHS-funded spy center

by John - SF Pet Sitters!

Oakland Privacy Group will be meeting again this Saturday at 6pm in Sudo Room's classroom to organize to stop Oakland's proposed Department of Homeland Security-funded spy center, the so-called "Domain Awareness Center". We had an /amazing/ show of support at Tuesday night's meeting at City Council, with more than 100 protesters showing up despite the rain and more than 80 people signing up to speak. It garnered lots of press - locally, as well as nationally - despite us only having had one planning meeting, a few days prior. I think many of us feel emboldened after our showdown with City Council and we are looking to come back 100x stronger the next time we square off with them. We'd love for you to attend the planning meeting, if you'd like to join forces or simply want to learn more about this creepy spy center. Here's a little background info on the spy center City of Oakland is trying to build: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4uRpy_5V0Y http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/14/technology/privacy-fears-as-surveillance-… http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2013/07/oakland-accepts-federal-funds-fo… https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2013/08/oaklands-creepy-new-surveillance-prog… http://oaklandwiki.org/Domain_Awareness_Center Hope to see you there tomorrow! Sudouino! - 1st draft PCB

by Hol Gaskill

Hi Folks, Attached is a rough draft with a number of traces etc still to be resolved. The idea is to have 3 of the PWM pins hardwired (but easy traces to cut if you want) to 3 power output pins so it can be used to power things right out of the box, with the rest of the I/O pins terminated to holes that you can either solder pin headers through to use on a breadboard, or just go ahead and solder to the devices you're trying to run. Comments and suggestions welcome! Also looking for input on size and mounting hole spacing. Also interested in peoples' thoughts on whether to use special connectors for the I2C and SPI ports. Cheers, Hol
